Nancy Kress (born Nancy Anne Koningisor around Buffalo, New York on January 20, 1948) is a science fiction writer. She began writing inside 1976 but has achieved her greatest notice since the publication of her Hugo and Nebula-winning novella "Beggars in Spain" in 1990.

She grew higher within East Aurora, New York and attended college at SUNY Plattsburgh. Within 1973, she moved to Rochester to marry Michael Joseph Kress. It experienced ii sons, & divorced around 1984. At that instance, she went to work on Stanton & Hucko, an ad agency. Inside 1998, she married Charles Sheffield, who died inside 2002 of the brain tumour. Kress pull back to Rochester, New York, to be nigh her grown youngsters.
